There is actually a surprising amount of information online about the nutritional value of lupins. But here is what you should know (based on science):
- Extremely high source of protein (43% – hello vegetarians!);
- Full of fibre (30%);
- Low GI – keeps you fuller for longer;
- Lowers blood pressure;
- Provides good fats; and
- Gluten free.
Lupins actually have a higher protein and fibre content than any other legume and twice the protein of quinoa – amazing!

Most importantly, lupin is an allergen– if you are allergic to peanuts, beware. That is literally the only downside.
